Hello, all. Let’s talk about my photography trip to Guatemala April 2024.
I chose to go to Guatemala rather suddenly. I was looking for somewhere to travel for photography. And just then I saw a viral recommendation to Guatemala from a photographer I follow on Instagram. And by then I was already 80% committed to going. Then I started researching, at which point I was 90% committed. And eventually I bought the flight from Laguardia to Guatemala City which would now make me 100% committed. I spent 8 nights in Guatemala.

Read More“What do you shoot with?” Every photographer’s favorite question. You can tell a lot about a photographer by the camera they use. I find a lot of seasoned photographers like to use Canon. Canon seems especially popular among travel and landscape photographers. Nikon users often are pretty impressive photographers as well and can photograph a little bit of everything. Fuji shooters are the type that want to be different as Fuji has a pretty unique feel to them. And I find Sony is really popular among the younger generation.
Read MoreEver since I became a photographer I look at weather and seasons in a completely different way. In terms, of photography they all have their pros and cons. With photography every situation has pros and cons and I could probably write a whole blog about that aspect.
The point that I’m getting at is there is certainly a preferred time of year for taking photos. And that time of year is most definitely Autumn. The fall season, in my opinion, is indeed the best time for photos. And I can see why many people say fall is their favorite season. I still consider myself more of a summer person. But for photos, fall is perfect.
Read MoreI did a collaboration with Annie Cohoat-Abel. She is a very talented local NYC stylist. Find Annie on Instagram here. I was happy to have to opportunity to work with her. This was an unpaid collaboration. Why would I do an unpaid collaboration? Well first of all neither of us got paid. It was an opportunity for us to create images for our portfolio. I did it simply because I wanted to work with someone who lived in my neighborhood. I wanted to make a new friend. At no point did I ask Annie for anything in return for photographing her models. All I wanted was some photos for my portfolio and friendship. If Annie wants to refer me for future work that would be great. But what’s more important for me is making a connection with a fellow artist.
Read MoreI recently spent a weekend in Charleston, South Carolina catching up with an old friend and his family. My friend Steve did such a great job of showing me around. I’ve known Steve since we were 13 years old. He’s one of those friends that really make sure you have a great time if you visit. Steve had lots of plans for us and even loaned me his car while he was at work. You’ll see him in some of these photos I’ve shared.
I had a very good time in Charleston. I ate at about 5 different establishments and each time I was served some excellent food. My dishes included salmon croquettes, fish & chips and a burger that was topped with an egg and bacon jam. Found a local authentic Mexican taco stand as well.
Read MoreWhere are all my actors at? For those of you that ask what my studio headshots look like… it’s this. This is what they look like. Doing headshots for actors is probably the second most important type of photography after weddings. And I don’t claim to be the best at it. People don’t hire me because I’m the best. They hire me because they trust me. And I believe they hire me because they see something in my photos that they don’t see in other photos. All I know is I never let anyone down, not even myself.

Read MoreI’d like to share a little insight of what it’s like during one of my photoshoots. I know some of the photos from this recent Newlywed shoot look quite magical. I always surprise myself every time I work with a couple. It’s an incredible feeling to create an image that, for me, is often beyond what I ever imagined it would look like. Read MoreWhen I think of Colorado I think of beautiful autumns in Aspen. I think of skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing. I think of the mecca of outdoor activities. I think of sunny cloudless skies. I think of an entire state so liberal they legalized weed before anywhere else in America. After my third visit to Colorado I can no longer speak of it like the eye opening experience it once was. But it is still special to me nonetheless. I did not finally set foot in Colorado until only about 2 years ago. I waited a long time. I had never seen the Rocky Mountains.
Read MoreCuba: A highly anticipated journey. It's one place I never thought I'd have a chance to visit (I always say this but we all know Cuba is a little different than most countries.) Not only has travel restriction for Americans been strict for many years but it just generally seemed like some forbidden land. There was so little I knew about Cuba all these years and now my eyes have opened up to understanding it a whole lot more than I ever thought.
Read MoreI'll just cut to the chase and tell you my favorite thing about New Orleans. It's not just that it is completely legal to drink alcohol on the street (as long as your drink is in a plastic cup and not a can or bottle.) And it's not just that on any given night you can find a half dozen or more music acts, mostly rock and roll, the best of all the musics in my opinion. But my favorite thing about New Orleans is really a combination of those two.
